Dr. Sathya Vamsi Krishna, an accomplished medical professional, holds an MBBS and MS in Orthopedics from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, where he earned gold medals for outstanding academic performance. Following his post-graduation, he pursued diverse fellowships in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery, both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Vamsi completed a prestigious year-long Dr. Paul Brand Fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at Christian Medical College, Vellore. Additionally, he underwent another fellowship at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore, gaining exposure to all facets of hand and upper limb surgery. Subsequently, he served as a Hand Surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedics at St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, for 18 months before embarking on a Fellowship in Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery at the National University Hospital in Singapore. As a visiting fellow, he also explored Upper Limb Centers at Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia, and AZ Monica Hospital, Antwerp, Belgium. In 2018, he completed his Hand and Upper Extremity Clinical Fellowship at the prestigious Institut Kaplan in Barcelona, Spain.

In 2018, Dr Vamsi took the initiative to establish the Department of Hand Surgery at Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics, Bangalore, where he served as Unit Head for five years until 2023. His significant contributions to the field are reflected in numerous publications and presentations at both National and International conferences.

As a dedicated hand surgeon with over 13 years of experience in surgical and non-surgical treatments, Dr. Vamsi is committed to delivering personalized, compassionate care to each patient. Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of hand and upper extremity conditions, he is a European board-certified Hand surgeon with extensive training in the latest surgical techniques. His expertise encompasses addressing conditions from complex hand fractures and nerve injuries to arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome, helping patients regain function and mobility in their hands.

In 2024, Dr. Vamsi received the prestigious American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) International Travelling Fellowship award from India. During this fellowship, he visited renowned institutions such as Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston, Stanford University in San Francisco, San Antonio Hand And Upper Limb Center in Texas, and the University of Virginia.

Practising at Narayan Health Orthopaedics and Trauma Care, Narayana Health City, Dr. Vamsi provides a comprehensive range of surgical and non-surgical treatments for hand and upper extremity conditions. From splinting and physical therapy to minimally invasive surgery and joint replacement, he collaborates closely with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs

What is hand surgery?

Hand surgery is the field of medicine that includes the investigation, preservation, and restoration by medical, surgical, and rehabilitative means of all structures of the upper extremity directly affecting the form and function of the hand and wrist.

Why visit a hand surgeon?

Hand is an unique part of a human body made up of complex arrangement of bone, tendons, muscles, nerves, blood vessels and skin. All the elements should be in good condition to achieve a functional hand. An injury or disease can affect any or all of these structures and impair the use of the hand.
